Learning goal

Puts given notes in order from high to low and notices the falling direction of pitch.

Topic

Now we go the other way: from high to low, from right to left.

Prior knowledge

Can put notes in order from low to high.

Teacher note

This is the reverse of the previous lesson. Before ordering, ask students to point to the highest note. Moving a hand from right to left along the keyboard reminds them of the direction.

Lesson steps

  1. Play these notes from HIGH to LOW: start with the highest sound.
  2. Which one is the highest? Start there and go down.
  3. Four notes, from high to low.
  4. Five notes: put them in order from right to left.
