Learning goal
Plays both hands at the same time in contrary (mirror) motion and understands that the same finger numbers work symmetrically.
Topic
Let your hands be each other’s mirror: one opens to the right while the other opens to the left.
Prior knowledge
Parallel motion with both hands.
Teacher note
In mirror motion, both hands use the same finger number (1–1, 2–2 …); many children find this easier than parallel motion. The thumbs start on G3 and C4 and move outward.
Lesson steps
- Both thumbs in the middle: left hand G, right hand C. Press them together.
- Mirror: your hands move apart, and the finger numbers are always the same!
- Now your hands meet in the middle again.
