Learning goal

Plays a smooth sequence using the right and left hands in turn and controls the move from one hand to the other.

Topic

Your two hands are a team. Today they learn to pass: one you, one me!

Prior knowledge

Left-hand and right-hand five-finger positions.

Teacher note

Blue keys are for the left hand, green keys for the right hand. Tell students to keep both hands resting in their positions without lifting them off the keyboard. In the ‘Bounce and Catch’ step, every note is a ‘bounce’.

Lesson steps

  1. One left, one right: C–C, G–G. Take turns!
  2. Question and answer: the left hand asks (C–D–E), the right hand answers with the same notes, higher up.
  3. Staircase game: the left hand walks down, the right hand climbs up.
  4. Watch and repeat: a two-hand climb.
  5. Bounce and Catch
